The team increased their lead to 2-0, as Xherdan Shaqiri scored a goal, with an assist by Steven Zuber, in the 26th minute.
With barely 30 minutes on the clock, Turkey’s Irfan Kahveci scored a goal, with an assist by Hakan Çalhanoğlu, and plugged one back for Turkey. But Turkey ran out of steam.
In the 68th minute, Xherdan Shaqiri scored a goal, from a pass from Steven Zuber, to increase the lead for Switzerland. This brought the final score to 3-1.
The results in the final round of the qualifiers mean Switzerland finish third and Turkey finish fourth. Switzerland secured their spot in the playoffs.
