Newcastle takeover could be completed in July

Newcastle United have been linked with a takeover for months now and it seems that the process could be concluded next month.

According to Football Insider, the Saudi backed consortium interested in taking over the Premier League club remains committed to the deal and they are hoping to finalise the acquisition of the club by the end of July.

Current owner Mike Ashley decided to take legal action against the governing bodies after a £300 million takeover was blocked last summer.

Ashley has entered into an arbitration process and all parties are privately confident that the takeover will go through eventually.

It remains to be seen whether they can convince the Premier League to reconsider their decision and approve the takeover bid in the coming weeks.

The fans will be desperate for the takeover to go through this summer.

Ashley has been heavily criticised over the years for the way he has run the club and new owners could help the Premier League side realise their potential.

Saudi investment is likely to bring quality signings and the Magpies could finally challenge the top clubs once again in future.

Recently, key players like Allan Saint-Maximin have called for the club to show more ambition in the transfer market. A club of their stature should not be fighting for survival every season.

Furthermore, the arrival of new owners could bring a managerial change as well. Steve Bruce is not exactly a popular figure as far as the fans are concerned and Newcastle could certainly do with a proven winner as their manager.

Here is how the fans have reacted to the news.
