Aston Villa fans react to John McGinn brace for Scotland

Scotland picked up a 4-0 win over the Faroe Islands in the World Cup qualifiers last night and Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn chipped in with two vital goals for his side.

McGinn has been outstanding for his country during this international break and he managed to score a stunning goal against Austria as well.

The midfielder has now scored three goals in three matches over the international break and some of the Aston Villa fans are urging Dean Smith to play him further forward in the midfield with more attacking freedom.

McGinn has often been used in a deeper position alongside Douglas Luiz at the club level but his natural game is that of a box to box midfielder.

It will be interesting to see if his performances for Scotland can convince Smith to use him in a more attacking role for the remainder of this season.

Aston Villa could certainly use more goals from the midfield and McGinn could prove to be a quality option for them.

Furthermore, the hard-working midfielder could add a new dimension to the Aston Villa attack with his pressing further up the pitch. The 26-year-old has struggled to hit top form since returning from his injury but he has looked a different player for Scotland this month.

It will be interesting to see if McGinn can build on this performance and finish the season strongly with Villa now.

Here is what some of the Aston Villa fans had to say about his performance last night.
