West Ham continues to rock the Premier League. Tonight, David Moyes’ charges dealt with Sheffield United.
The Hammers took the lead towards the end of the first half. On loan from Manchester United, Jesse Lingard earned a penalty, which West Ham captain Declan Rice coldly converted. It is noteworthy that the team from East London for the first time this season got the right to shoot the penalty spot.
After the break, West Ham’s advantage was consolidated by Issa Diop. Center-back responded to Cresswell’s serve from the corner of the field and headed the ball into Sheffield’s net. Just before the final whistle, the Londoners brought matters to a rout. Defender Ryan Fredericks recorded the effective blow to himself.
West Ham gain 42 points and move up to 4th (!) Place in the Premier League standings, displacing Liverpool. As for the “blades”, then “Sheffield” can safely prepare for the season in the Championship. Chris Wilder’s team scored only 11 points after 24 matches.
