Lovchev called the performance of Russian teams in Europe a “shame”

RPL representatives did not succeed in the European arena again.

Former Spartak player Yevgeny Lovchev spoke about another failure of Russian clubs in European competitions. Only one RPL representative managed to break into the spring part of the European competition. Krasnodar will represent Russia in the 1/16 finals of the Europa League.

Lokomotiv (Champions League), Zenit (Champions League) and CSKA (Europa League) took the last places in their groups.

“About our, I’m not afraid of this word, shame is spoken about in passing today. Such performances are a real shame. In Soviet times, half of the team would have been disbanded for such results. Now we need to ask people who once said that with the transition to the autumn-spring system, our teams will start performing well in European competitions. These people, sitting in their offices, do not understand how football is built. It does not depend on the fall-spring or spring-fall system. The most important thing is to be able to properly manage a football economy. By this I mean, first of all, children’s football.

We have a lot of academies in the country: Spartak, CSKA, Dynamo. Where did the national team players come from? Gazinsky – Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Erokhin, Sobolev – Barnaul, Zobnin – Irkutsk, Golovin-Kaltan. In these cities, there was no football in life. Where are our vaunted academies? The boys themselves, without teachers and coaches, went out into the world. We need to think about this, and not about the spring-autumn system “, – Lovchev emphasized.
