The Premier League is, arguably, the best league in football and has been since its inception. It continually attracts some of the largest audiences that are keen followers of the sport and most of the clubs that compete in the division are generally known around the world.
Although there might be a ‘top-six’ that can sometimes make things a little boring, the rest of the division continues to provide fans with a fantastic spectacle in which the outcome of certain matches become almost difficult to predict.
Indeed, with the imminent return of England’s top-flight set to grace our television screens once again, it can create a real buzz around the gambling aspect, but it is vitally important to use UK licensed casinos when considering to do so.
However, whilst England’s top-flight continues to draw some of football’s best players and give us something to finally talk about, there are still a number of legendary figures that have never graced the English game with their sheer magnificence on a weekly basis.
So, without further ado, here are just five legendary names…
1/ Gianluigi Buffon
Juventus and Italian legend, Gianluigi Buffon, has earned himself a reputation as one of the very best shot-stoppers in between the sticks, however we have not been fortunate enough to have seen him play his football in the Premier League and it is not likely it will happen, either.
2/ Fabio Cannavaro
Ballon d’Or winning defender, Fabio Cannavaro, is just another legendary Italian figure to have never graced an English top-flight side with his abilities, having spent a large amount of his career in his homeland and a rather successful period in Spain with Real Madrid. Oh, don’t forget the spell in China he had during his twilight years, either.
3/ Luis Figo
Regarded as one of the best players of his generation, Luis Figo was just one of a number of talents who never came to the British Isles to showcase what he could do with a football at his feet. Arguably one of the greatest talents to have come out of Portugal (we know about Cristiano Ronaldo…), the midfielder won a number of football’s top individual player awards as he represented the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Inter Milan throughout his career.
4/ Ronaldo
Brazilian legend and arguably one of the greatest strikers the game has ever seen, Ronaldo, never made the switch to the Premier League and we certainly missed out on witnessing a true great up close and personal. During a trophy-laden career at the likes of Inter Milan and Real Madrid, El Phenomenon bagged himself over 350 competitive goals in around 550 matches across all competitions for the clubs he played for as well as at international level with Brazil.
5/ Lionel Messi
Of course, it would be absolutely crazy to leave out the Argentian Magician that is Lionel Messi from a list about top players that we have never witnessed play in the Premier League. Hardly a player who requires an introduction, the South American has amassed an astonishing 627 goals and 261 assists in his 718 appearances for the club; a figure that is going to continue to completely skyrocket for as long as he continues to play. But, by that same token, perhaps he will give us just the chance to play football in the Premier League whilst he still has some time left on his side? One can hope, anyway.
