In-form Watford kick off gameweek 23 of the 2019-20 Premier League season at home to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday lunchtime. Jose Mourinho’s side go to Vicarage Road with just one point from their last fixtures whilst the Hornets have taken 13 from a possible 18 under Nigel Pearson.
Arsenal and Manchester City both have 3pm GMT kickoffs before the day concludes with Chelsea looking to increase their chances of a top four finish with a win away to Newcastle United.
Sunday concludes with the most-anticipated game of the weekend when unbeaten Liverpool host rivals Manchester United.
Here are my fantasy football captain tips for gameweek 23:
Manchester City are in great form of late, with five wins from their last six Premier League matches including their 6-1 thrashing of Aston Villa at Villa Park last weekend.
Sergio Aguero netted a hat-trick last Sunday and I wouldn’t be surprised if he scored three again this weekend when Crystal Palace visit the Etihad Stadium.
The Argentine is in great form and will likely have the supply from the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Riyad Mahrez, Bernardo Silva and/or David Silva in this one.
The bottom two meet at Carrow Road on Saturday when Norwich City host Bournemouth. Both sides are well out of form and must be thinking of going all out for victory in this one.
Bournemouth are really struggling to score of late whilst have been shipping lots of the back. And that’s similar to the story of Norwich’s season too. However, Daniel Farke’s side have been scoring goals throughout.
Teemu Pukki’s goals may have dried up a lot since the opening weeks of the campaign but this should be a good opportunity for the Finn to get back to scoring ways. Either he or Todd Cantwell are a cheap, value for money choice as your captain this week.
Southampton welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to St Mary’s on Saturday in what could be an entertaining end-to-end game.
Raplh Hassenhuttl’s side are in good form of late despite relying so heavily on Danny Ings for goal. He’s been a dream for fantasy football players over the past couple of months with goal after goal.
Wolves are struggling to keep clean sheets this season so expect Southampton to score in this game. When that happens, it’s usually Ings.
