Manchester United Ready To Trigger €80m Release Clause Of La Liga Star

When Valencia was snapping up Carlos Soler at just 8 years of age in 2005, they probably never thought he would become such a big star that a club would be willing to pay as much as €80 million for him. The Spanish club have discovered many big name stars in recent times. Jordi Alba, Paco Alcácer, Diego Alves, Pablo Aimar, Juan Mata and a host of other big name stars have come through the system at Valencia.

Carlos Soler could become their biggest sale in recent years as according to reports, Manchester United are ready to trigger the release clause of the 20-year-old midfielder. Mourinho is said to be a big fan of the player and wants him at Manchester United in January. The Red Devils were initially thought to be confident of completing the signing of the highly-rated Spaniard for just £45 million, but that doesn’t seem likely now as Valencia are involved in the title race in La Liga for the first time in a long while and won’t want to sell the player, unless a club triggers his €80 million release clause to force their hands.

Carlos Soler, who started his career as a striker, has become one of the best upcoming midfielders in La Liga. He made his first team debut for Valencia at just 18 and has not looked back since. He has become a star in his own right under manager Marcelino, who has deployed Soler in a right sided attacking role. At the time of writing this article, he has appeared in 12 games in all competitions for Valencia this season and created four assists and scored one goal himself.

His wonderful performances with Valencia has alerted a lot of big European clubs but United could beat them all to his signature. His versatility is something Jose Mourinho could use at Manchester United. Carlos Soler can play as a false nine, as a central attacking midfielder or on both flanks. His signing, should it happen, could mean the end of United’s pursuit of Chelsea midfielder Willian however.

It could also further reduce the chances of Juan Mata and Anthony Martial in the team, which could ultimately force the duo to leave Old Trafford, as it is very unlikely that Manchester United will trigger the €80 million release clause in Carlos Soler’s contract if they are not bringing him to the club to play regularly in the starting XI.
