Liverpool Open Talks To Sign €173,000-A-Week Arsenal Target

When PSG signed Neymar and Kylian Mbappe this season, it was widely expected that the French club would offload some players but that never happened. However, Mbappe was signed only on loan with an option to buy and if they are to sign the Frenchman permanently, they will have to pay €145 million plus €35 million in add-ons which means some players have to be sold, in order for PSG to stay in line with UEFA’s Financial Fair Play laws.

One of the players who could be leaving is Julian Draxler, who only signed for the club on January 3 this year. The former Wolfsburg player has been linked with both Arsenal and Liverpool in recent weeks. According to reports, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is ready to move quickly for the German in order to beat Arsenal to his signature.

Last season Draxler, despite being a bit-part player for the French club, scored 10 goals and created two assists in 25 appearances – a good number of which was as a substitute. He is unfortunately surplus to requirements at the Parc des Princes and could be off to Liverpool or Arsenal depending on who is able to agree a fee with PSG and personal terms with the player.

With Firmino not doing particularly well this season, Jurgen Klopp may be looking to Draxler as a back up or competition for the Brazilian. Draxler can play on both wings as well as in the Coutinho role for Liverpool.

The only problem for Liverpool is Draxler reportedly earns €9million per year (€173,000-a-week) which is slightly higher than what Coutinho, Liverpool’s highest paid player earns. He could however be willing to take a pay cut to go to a club where his talents will be more appreciated and where he will play more regularly. Will that be Liverpool or Arsenal? Only time will tell.
