Chelsea Could Do Deal With Real Madrid For £36m Star, Player Wants £210,000-A-Week

Keylor Navas is a very good player in my opinion, but this hasn’t stopped Real Madrid from constantly getting linked with signing goalkeepers. About three years ago, it was Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea that was thought to be on his way to the Santiago Bernabeu as a replacement for the Costa Rican.

That deal didn’t happen then and doesn’t look like it will be happening any time soon either but Madrid still want a keeper. They do not seem to rate Navas at all and could be replacing him with Chelsea star Thibaut Courtois according to reports.

Thibaut Courtois himself has been linked with a move to Real Madrid for a while now. Just before he became the first choice at Chelsea, he was thought to be on his way to Real Madrid but Chelsea sold Petr Cech to Arsenal and made Courtois their number one choice, which seems to have ended the speculations until now.

At the moment, Real Madrid are said to be ready to take advantage of Thibaut Courtois’ contractual problem at Stamford Bridge. The Belgian has about 18 months left on his contract and has reportedly stalled on a new deal, a situation Real Madrid think they can take advantage of to sign him. The Belgian is valued at £36m by but Real Madrid may have to pay a little more if they want to stand a chance of signing him. Having said that, it should be said that Chelsea could be forced to sell him for a cut price, to avoid losing him on a free transfer, should he insist on not signing a new deal.

The bone of contention so far seems to be Courtois’ wage demands. The former KRC Gent goalkeeer is said to be demanding a wage of £210,000-a-week in his new contract which Chelsea are not willing to pay for some reason – if the report is true that is. Chelsea not being willing to pay £210,000-a-week is quite weird especially considering they are normally a club that pays well and Courtois is certainly deserving of £210,000-a-week.
