Blow For Chelsea As Mauro Icardi Agrees Real Madrid Move

Chelsea have been linked with the signing of various strikers over the last few weeks. This is mainly because the Blues only have the duo of Alvaro Morata and Michy Batshuayi to beckon upon in attack. However, Batshuayi is currently injured and likely to be out for several more weeks. And even when he was fit, he didn’t do anything to make Antonio Conte feel he is good enough to lead Chelsea’s attack if Alvaro Morata were injured, suspended or out of form.

Over the summer the Premier League champions were linked with the signing of Lazio’s Ciro Immobile as well as Mauro Icardi. Although Immobile could still be signed, Chelsea can forget about Mauro Icardi, as if you believe Premium Sport commentator Daniele Massaro, the Inter Milan and Argentina striker is on his way to Real Madrid in the new year.

Madrid were recently linked with the signing of the player as a replacement for Karim Benzema, who is proving to be no longer reliable. Reports have it that Los Blancos will make a bid for the player once the January transfer window opens. But if you believe Daniele Massaro, that bid has been made, accepted and the striker is more or less a Madrid player:

“I can tell you today that Mauro Icardi will be a Real Madrid striker next year,” Massaro said, in quotes cited by Marca and Diario AS quotes via Real Madrid news.

“His arrival will be at the expense of (Karim) Benzema.”

If this is true, it will be real bad news for Chelsea. Though the Blues could always go for Ciro Immobile in January. I believe Immobile would be easier to get than Icardi. The reason being that Inter Milan are currently second in the Serie A table, and they have a real chance of being been one of Italy’s three representatives in next season’s UEFA Champions League. If that’s the case they certainly won’t want to let go of their best striker so easily.

Aside from Immobile, Chelsea could also go for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. They were linked with the Gabon international last summer, and with him constantly having disciplinary problems at Borussia Dortmund, the German club could be forced to sell him in the winter should the right offer be made for his services.
