Kingsley Coman Could Join Chelsea For £43m As Bayern Munich Find His Replacement

With Michy Batshuayi and Alvaro Morata being Antonio Conte’s only options in attack, it is not a surprise Chelsea have been linked with the signing of another striker. A few days ago it was Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi that was linked.  Before then Ciro Immobile had been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.

However, Chelsea may have been given a boost in their chase of a backup option to Morata (seeing as Batshuayi has proved not to be a worthy backup). This is as news from Germany has it that Bayern Munich are close to signing Hoffenheim striker Sandro Wagner.

Sandro Wagner, 29, was formerly on the books of Bayern Munich but it appears the Bavarians are set to re-sign him. This has been officially confirmed by Hoffenheim. According to Hoffenheim’s manager the rumours are right and the player could be joining Bayern Munich, but the club won’t be making any further statement until the deal is finalised.

“It’s right [about Wagner to Bayern rumours], and we’ve known for longer than yesterday.

“We are aware of his interest [in a move]. We will make an announcement if there’s something to announce. There are no grudges that he’s interest, but there is sympathy.

“It’s not my player, he belongs to the club. If the clubs reach an agreement, you try to compensate for things as a coach.”

This move by Bayern Munich could make Kingsley Coman available. In March this year Coman had been linked with a £43 million move to Chelsea and with Bayern now likely to sign Wagner they may just be open to letting the former Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus player leave the club, which could be to Chelsea’s advantage.

Although Coman has also been linked with a move to Arsenal, I think Chelsea stand the better chance of signing him due mainly to the fact that they are a club who win titles and are not afraid to spend big on a transfer fee and wages.

Coman has so far this season started just six Bundesliga games for Bayern Munich and that could become worse should Bayern ultimately sign Sandro Wagner, hence why he may be open to a move to Chelsea, especially as he knows he will not only be a backup to Morata but as well being able to compete against Willian and Pedro for a berth on the right flank.
