If you believe the British media, Arsenal are on the verge of signing of signing Nabil Fekir from Olympic Lyon.
It’s a deal that will be worth as much as £60m and will break Arsenal’s transfer record.
The Frenchman has been linked with a move to Arsenal for a while now and his signing would certainly not surprise me – Wenger rarely gives up when he likes a player.
Fekir has as of the time of writing this article, 12 goals and three assists in 15 appearances for Lyon this season, becoming the French side’s best player in the aftermath of Alexandre Lacazette’s departure.
The forward will be seen as the replacement for Mesut ozil. Both in terms of adaptability and style of play Fekir will be an uograde on the German.
Personally, I believe the Frenchman would be better suited to Arsenal than the want-away star. Ozil is a very good player and a world class midfielder but the fast pace of the Premier league doesn’t suit him.
Although Ozil has been linked with a move to Manchester United, I strongly believe a move away from the Premier League is what he needs.
What can Arsenal expect from Fekir?
Not only will the Gunners get a player of great versatility; he is as capable playing box to box as he is on the flanks, but Wenger will also be getting a proven goalscorer.
In 128 games for the Ligue 1 side he has scored 46 goals – and this is before you look at his stats in terms if assists.
Between Fekir and Lemar
I do not think Fekir and Lemar are similar players.
Monaco’s star man is more of a winger than a central attacking midfielder. Arsenal could certainly do with signing both players. Lemar will be seen as a direct replacement for Alexis Sanchez and could play in the Cazorla role if required.
