Week 21 Premier League Predictions 2016-17

After a brief respite from Premier League action for third round FA Cup matches, week 21 brings a return of games over the coming weekend. Of course the big match of the weekend features second place Liverpool traveling to sixth place Manchester United in what is always a heated derby match.

With both teams having played midweek League Cup semifinals neither team has much of an advantage as far as rest time goes. At the moment United are at the top of the form table with 6 wins in a row and a +9 goal difference while Liverpool have 4 wins and a draw in their last 6 along with a +8 goal difference. In that time United has scored 12 and allowed just 3 while Liverpool have scored 13 and allowed 5. At home this season United have a 5-4-1 record compared to Liverpool’s away record of 6-3-2. Comparing scoring stats has Manchester United scoring 16 and allowing 8 at home while Liverpool have scored 22 and allowed 16 on the road. On paper this is a match that looks likely to be another scoring draw, but, like all matches, anything is possible.

Week FPL 21 FPL Matchups

Arsenal, Tottenham, and Bournemouth are my three top picks for FPL matchups this weekend. Arsenal travels to Swansea and Bournemouth travel to Hull City while Tottenham remain at home to face West Brom. Obviously there is a premium for selecting players from Arsenal and Tottenham, but picking the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Christian Eriksen, Delle Alli, Olivier Giroud, or Harry Kane have their perks. There are also excellent defensive picks in their as well with Danny Rose, Kyle Walker, and even Laurent Koscielny.

For Bournemouth there are some top players that can be had at something of a price cut including Charlie Daniels (5.2) – DEF, Steven Cook (5.1) DEF, and Joshua King (5.3) FOR. In fact King would be a great differential at forward, especially with his price tag (5.3) which can allow more room to bring in other more expensive players. At the moment he is owned by just 0.7% of teams.

I’m hoping to have time to put up more FPL tips for gameweek 21 later in the week. As always, good luck and have fun!
