Tuesday’s FPL Tips: Getting the Most out of Your Fantasy Premier League Midfield

Premier League Fantasy TipsThis week I’m starting up a new Fantasy Premier League post for Tuesday with tips for the weekend’s FPL team setups. Today I’ll be focusing on tips to help your Premier League fantasy midfield. There are many ways to set up a fantasy team, but all require a strong midfield. Of all the positions, the midfield is where you are bound to get the most points.

Not only are you often capable of having up to five midfielders but these are players capable of giving you a large number of points based on a larger variety of factors. Midfielders are where you can earn points for scoring goals, creating goals, and preventing goals much more easily than anywhere else on the pitch.

Most Premier League fantasy players out there know about players like Sanchez, Fabregas, Hazard, etc, but we still need to be able to combine those high priced players with some other low to mid-range players to balance out the team.

Some of the lower tier players to look at include Sebastian Larsson, Mile Jedinak, Mohamed Diame, Nathan Dyer, Chris Brunt, Victor Wanyama, and Yannick Bolasie. All of these are 5.6 or lower and have a total of score of at least 42 points.

In the mid-range of 8.0 and down the best place to start is Gylffi Sigurdsson along with the likes of Christian Eriksen, Dusan Tadic, Stewart Downing, and Nacer Chadli.

With some of these players in mind you can get a solid midfield consisting of:

Alexis Sanchez (10.9), Cesc Fabregas (9.7), Dusan Tadic (7.9), Gylffi Sigurdsson (6.7), and Victor Wanyama (4.8)

This midfield would cost you £39.7 and leave you plenty of room to add high quality forwards and excellent defenders. If you wanted to cut costs a bit more even you could drop Tadic for Nacer Chadli at 6.7, or Stewart Downing at 6.0, or even so far as Sebastian Larsson or Yannick Bolasie at 5.4.

At the moment I would say the pick of the lot in terms of finding a lower priced midfielder would be Yannick Bolasie. He was one of my picks last week and has been a mostly consistent performer all year. In addition Crystal Palace has a string of somewhat favorable match-ups coming up with Swansea (A), Aston Villa (H), Spurs (A), and Stoke City (H).

Hopefully these tips come in handy as you prepare your team for the weekend. Be sure to check out the Fantasy Football Scout injury list to make sure your team is ready to play.
