Match Week 4 Premier League Previews and Quick Picks

Premier League PreviewsPremier League Previews for week 4 matches along with Predictions. Included in my preview is my pick, brief analysis for each team, and betting odds.

The week 4 Premier League Predictions have been posted, so go read up on my EPL picks for the weekend.

Arsenal vs Manchester City

The arrival of Danny Welbeck at Arsenal coupled with his recent good form could make this a very interesting considering the point that he will have to prove. Manchester City looked rather dull prior to the international break and will have their own point to prove as well. All in all, it should be a good match.

Betting Odds (Bovada):

Arsenal win: 37/20; Draw: 5/2; Manchester City win: 7/5

Pick: Tough one to pick, but I’m going with a draw.

West Bromwich Albion vs Everton

West Brom’s struggles have continued this season and facing Everton won’t be an easy task for them. Everton may be level on points and goal difference, but they have managed to score 7 goals compared to West Brom’s 2.

Betting Odds (Bovada):

West Brom win: 13/5; Draw: 5/2; Everton win: 21/20

Pick: I’m predicting an Everton win in this one.

Sunderland vs Tottenham Hotspur

Sunderland has had a relatively good start that has somewhat exceeded expectations. Tottenham’s start has been a bit disappointing despite having two wins. Much is expected of this Spurs team while Sunderland are a team that can always produce a shock.

Betting Odds (Bovada):

Sunderland win: 11/4; Draw: 5/2; Spurs win: 1/1

Pick: I’m predicting a narrow Tottenham win, but it could go either way really.

Stoke City vs Leicester City

After the Potter’s season last year under Mark Hughes there are some increased expectations in Stoke. So far they have not been overly impressive, but did produce an excellent 1-0 away win over Manchester City.

This weekend they face off against Leicester City who have managed to produce two draws including their last game, a 1-1 draw to Arsenal.

Betting Odds (Bovada):

Stoke City win: 11/10; Draw: 23/10; Leicester City win: 11/4

Pick: This should be an interesting match that could be quite open. I’m predicting a Stoke City win this Saturday.

Southampton vs Newcastle United

Both teams enter Saturday’s match having scored three goals in their previous game, however, Southampton was able to limit the opposition to one goal to preserve a win while Newcastle allowed three, including a late equalizer. Neither team did much to change their squad since match day three.

Betting Odds (Bovada):

Southampton win: 5/7; Draw: 11/4; Newcastle win: 4/1

Pick: I’m predicting a low scoring draw in this one, quite possibly scoreless even.

Chelsea vs Swansea City

At the moment these two teams are at the top of the Premier League Table with three wins from three. Chelsea hold a +2 goal difference lead, however Swansea has allowed just one goal compared to Chelsea’s four. Swansea could provide another shock win and will make it interesting, but Chelsea have a lot of great players. Chelsea has also scored no fewer than two goals in each of their three matches.

Betting Odds (Bovada):

Chelsea win: 1/4; Draw: 5/1; Swans win: 11/1

Pick: Chelsea are on a roll and I’m predicting them to continue their excellent start as well as ending Swansea’s fantastic start.

Crystal Palace vs Burnley

Crystal Palace and Burnley are still attempting to find their way in this early Premier League season. They are both level on points and have a -3 goal difference. Burnley has managed to score just one goal while allowing four while Crystal Palace has scored 5 and allowed 8. Both come into Saturday on the back of draws with Palace earning a 3-3 away to Newcastle and Burnley holding on to a 0-0 at home to Manchester United.

Betting Odds (Bovada):

Crystal Palace win: 23/20; Draw: 23/10; Burnley win: 5/2

Pick: This should be a close match and I’m predicting a scoring draw.

Liverpool vs Aston Villa

Liverpool has had an interesting start to the season. They have looked dynamic and quite good in all three matches but still have not been able to prove themselves against the top of the league with their one loss coming away to Manchester City.

While the table standings are still in an early stage Aston Villa are currently sitting above Liverpool with 7 points and in third place. Their two wins and one draw have seen them score just 3 goals while also allowing only 1. Compare this to Liverpool who have scored 6 and allowed four, although 3 of those came against Man City.

Betting Odds (Bovada):

Liverpool win: 4/15; Draw: 5/1; Aston Villa win: 5/1

Pick: Liverpool have far too much quality and will be playing at home, they are my pick to win. Aston Villa could hold out and hope for a counter attack or set piece goal, but I have a hard time seeing them getting a result.

Manchester United vs Queens Park Rangers

Believe it or not Queens Park Rangers have a better record than Manchester United despite having a worse goal difference. Currently QPR are one point better than United with their one win and two losses compared to United’s two draws and one loss.

Still, it is quite early and Manchester United has made a lot of changes in the time since their last match. It’s a good thing that this is the only Sunday match being played because it is one everyone is wanting to see. With the addition of Radamel Falcao alongside Angel Di Maria, Daley Blind, Ander Herrera, and Luke Shaw, every fan is wondering just how they will all fit into this side and whether they can actually produce.

Queens Park Rangers may have a win, coming in their last home match to Sunderland. This win is the only match that they have scored and the only match in which they actually looked like they might score.

Betting Odds (Bovada):

Manchester United win: ¼; Draw: 5/1; QPR win: 11/1

Pick: While the Red Devils have not had a good start, this is the perfect time for them to get a boost. They are my pick to win.

Hull City vs West Ham United

Hull City has done some good work in the transfer market this summer by bringing in the likes of Hatem Ben Arfa, Michael Dawson, Tom Ince, Gaston Ramirez, Mohamed Diame, Robert Snodgrass, Abel Hernandez, and securing a permanent move for Jake Livermore. They have managed to provide strength and depth, especially good considering their new adventure in the Europa League.

West Ham did well enough by bringing in Alex Song and Carl Jenkinson, but it remains to be seen as to whether Mauro Zarate and Enner Valencia will be good enough to sustain West Ham’s attack.

So far Hull has come out with a win, a draw and a loss and managed to score one goal in each of their first three matches. West Ham, meanwhile have one win and two losses. They looked good in their lone win with some nice attacking football, but looked rather dire in their two losses, seeming to sit back and defend more.

This match could be a good one, or it could be an absolute stinker. I would say that much of this depends on Sam Allardyce and how he decides to set up. In my opinion, they have a much better chance of getting result if they go for it, but if they decided to sit back and defend they are much more likely to come away with nothing.

Betting Odds (Bovada):

Hull win: 11/10; Draw: 12/5; West Ham win: 13/5

Pick: I’m predicting a Hull City win, but realize that this could go either way. I will add that a loss for West Ham could have Allardyce on his way out.
