Chelsea remain unbeaten in the Premier League in their last nine matches while also going unbeaten in their last 21 at home. They have now kept a clean sheet in six out of their last eight matches as well.

This has all led to Chelsea pushing themselves into third place, level on points with Manchester City at 53, and only two points behind Arsenal at the top.

Newcastle United

While Newcastle has just one win in their last seven EPL matches they are still in eighth place in the table with 37 points. Their weekend loss to Sunderland was particularly painful considering it is now their third straight loss to their rivals.

At this time they don’t seem to have many players out there playing for the team. Loic Remy is still out serving his three match ban while they still have several players injured or questionable including Papiss Dembe Cisse, Fabricio Coloccini, Yoan Gouffran, Gabriel Obertan, Ryan Taylor, Sammi Ameobi, and Chieck Tiote. While some of these could be returning, it is also possible that they will be brought back early and not be completely fit.

My pick is a Chelsea win and one that could be rather comfortable. While Newcastle showed earlier resolve in their 2-0 home win over Chelsea, both teams are much different at this point. Newcastle have been in a downward spiral while Chelsea has been kicking on.

If Newcastle can go out and execute a game plan similar to what they did against top teams at the start of the season then they have a good chance of getting a result. However, at this stage Newcastle United has been struggling to even get a draw while Chelsea’s players have really bought into Mourinho’s tactics and are flying high.
