Bournemouth v Liverpool FA Cup Fourth Round Preview and Prediction

2014 FA Cup Predictions

Liverpool travel to Bournemouth for their Fourth Round FA Cup match and you can read my preview and prediction for Saturday’s clash. This will be the very first meeting between these clubs which should make it interesting.

Bournemouth defeated League Two side Burton 4-1 in the third round of the FA Cup to advance. In home matches this season in all competitions they have gone 7-3-5 and have scored 22 goals while allowing 17 along with three clean sheets. Their most recent match in the Championship was a 1-1 draw at home to Watford last Saturday.

Bournemouth are currently in 16th place in the Championship with an 8-7-11 record and 31 points, ten off of the playoff places. They have scored 32 and allowed 45 this season.

Liverpool came through round three of the FA Cup unscathed after a rather comfortable 2-0 home win over Oldham. In eight of their last nine FA Cup matches they have score at least two goals. They have also scored at least two goals in each of their last four matches in all competitions.

In the Premier League their recent 2-2 draw to Aston Villa keeps them in fourth place with a 13-4-5 record and 43 points. They have scored the second most goals in the league with 53 and have allowed 28.

Prediction: Bournemouth 1 – 3 Liverpool

My pick is for a Liverpool win, but I don’t think this will be a simple one for them. Playing away could be tricky for them, especially considering how they nearly lost to Aston Villa over the weekend and have shown signs of complacency throughout this season along with defensive frailties. For this reason I am also predicting that Bournemouth will score at least one goal and that there will be at least 2.5 goals in the match.

Betting Odds (Ladbrokes): Bournemouth win: 7.00; Draw: 4.33; Liverpool win: 1.33

Form: Bournemouth (W, D, D, L, W, D) Liverpool (L, L, W, W, W, D)
