After their 2-0 away loss to Manchester United over last weekend, Swansea has now gone seven Premier League matches without a win. It was a match in which they dominated possession with 61%, but showed where they have struggled all season long in being unable to score. They took 13 shots, but got just two of those on target with 69% of their shots coming outside of the box.
They have scored 26 goals this season, but they should have many more than this. They lead the Premier League in average possession at 59.7%, and in pass completion with 86.5%.
Spurs may have been knocked out of the FA Cup by Arsenal, but they have shown some exceptional form in the Premier League with Tim Sherwood at the helm. They are now unbeaten in their last five matches following the 0-5 loss to Liverpool. This includes a massive 2-1 win at Manchester United. They have also won their last four away matches in the Premier League.
Tottenham has also scored at least two goals in four out of their last five EPL games. They have been averaging 16.7 shots per game this season while also keeping 56.4% possession on average, which is fourth best.
My pick is a Tottenham Hotspur win, but I do believe this will be a close one. Swansea has really struggled to maintain consistency this season and having a week to prepare will be very helpful for them. Both teams like to have a high amount of possession, but I would expect Tottenham to give up much of this and instead look to use their speed to counter attack, much the way they did against Manchester United.
While Swansea does well holding the ball and passing it around, they have struggled throughout the season with converting this into quality chances and will need to do more with the ball if they want to get a result. I initially picked this as a draw, but feel that Spurs have been playing very well, especially against teams below them in the table.
