This season has been a good one for Southampton, despite their recent blip in form. Entering week 21 they are in ninth place with 27 points and have had three of their seven losses take place in the last six EPL games. These losses all came against teams above them in the table as well.
In this time they have scored eight goals and only failed to score in one match, the 3-0 home loss to Chelsea. In this time, they have also only kept one clean sheet, the 3-0 away win over Cardiff City, which is their only win in their last six Premier League games.
West Bromwich Albion
West Brom have been quite inconsistent this season, with their best run of form in the Premier League being their last four games in which they have drawn three and won one.
The 1-0 home win over Newcastle United was a big one for them as they sit in 14th place with 21 points and trying to push themselves clear of a relegation battle. They remain manager-less after sacking Steve Clarke, but have put in some decent performances recently.
My pick is for a Southampton win. While I had initially predicted a larger Southampton win, I have revised this for a lower scoring affair. Southampton has not scored more than two goals in their last four EPL games while West Brom has only allowed more than one goal once in their last five matches.
Betting Odds: Southampton win: 1.74-1.81; Draw: 3.61-3.78; West Brom win: 4.73-5.00
Form: Southampton (D, D, L, W, L, L) West Brom (L, L, D, D, D, W)
Prediction: Southampton 2 – 1 West Bromwich Albion
