Tottenham made the decision to give Tim Sherwood a contract as manager and let him have a go at taking charge at White Hart Lane. They head back to White Hart Lane for the first Premier League match since their 0-5 spanking by Liverpool which lead to Andre Villas Boas being relieved of his duties.

They did get a crucial win at Southampton on Sunday to keep themselves in the hunt for a Champions League place. In the match Sherwood was continually encouraging Spurs players to attack and move the ball forward more quickly. This could mean an end to the high possession, high pressing, and high defensive line they used under the previous manager. At least the high defensive line was abandoned which could also be due to the loss of so many key players in the back. Jan Vertonghen, Younes Kaboul, and Andros Townsend are all out injured while Sandro is 50/50 to return on Thursday and Paulinho is still serving his three match ban.

West Brom managed to break a four game losing streak with their 1-1 home draw to Hull City, but they continue to struggle. They are now without a win in the last seven matches in the Premier League and have scored eight goals while giving up 13 in this time, without a clean sheet.

My prediction is for a Tottenham Hotspur win. It is interesting that both teams have an identical goal difference along with goals scored and allowed with a -5 from 18 goals for and 23 against. These two teams are mostly headed in opposite directions after sacking their managers. Spurs showed signs of attacking verve on Sunday while West Brom continue to struggle across the entirety of the pitch. In their last eight head to head matches Tottenham has gone unbeaten against West Brom.

Betting Odds: Spurs win: 1.52-1.55; Draw: 4.12-4.48; West Brom win: 6.51-7.20

Form: Tottenham (L, D, W, W, L, W) West Brom (D, L, L, L, L, D)

Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 3 – 1 West Brom
