West Brom come in to week 17 having sacked their manager, Steve Clarke, after what was a successful campaign last season when he took them to eighth in the table. It certainly seems harsh and begs the question of how much better they can do without him. The Baggies have now lost their last four EPL matches and have gone winless in their last six.

In this time they have given up two or more goals in five straight matches. The interesting thing is that most people, myself included, feel that West Brom has been so close to getting a result, but have come up just short. The slide seemed to start when Chelsea sneaked a late draw following their dubious penalty in week 11. Without Steve Clarke there this weekend, it is going to be even tougher for them to get a result.

Hull City have surprised many people this season. They are currently in 12th place with 19 points and have put together some good results including two consecutive draws. Last weekend’s 0-0 draw against Stoke City was hard fought, but also quite boring for fans to watch since it was mostly spent in the midfield. They did not keep much possession (only 46%), but still had the better chances with four of their 13 shots on target compared to Stoke City having just two of their 11 on target.

This could be a good match to bet Hull City for the draw or even the win. West Brom’s players might have a difficult time getting up for this match considering their recent form coupled with the loss of Steve Clarke. Most players seem to be stunned by his sacking and he was a well-liked manager at the club.

Betting Odds: West Brom win: 1.89-1.95; Draw: 3.43-3.53; Hull win: 4.34-4.55

Form: West Brom (D, D, L, L, L, L) Hull (L, L, W, L, D, D)
