The week 17 Premier League Predictions have been posted, so go read up on my EPL picks for the weekend. Be sure to also check out the Premier League TV Schedule and 2013-14 Premier League Table.

Stoke City come in to week 17 looking to bounce back from a disappointing loss in the Capital One Cup. This was preceded by three decent matches in the Premier League. In those three previous matches they had two 0-0 draws against Cardiff at home and Hull City away. In between these two they managed a well fought 3-2 home win over Chelsea.

Aston Villa are coming into this weekend with a misfiring striker in Christian Benteke who has not scored in 11 matches. They also coming having lost their last two matches and failing to score in either match while allowing five goals.

This is a match between two clubs separated by just a single point and two places. A win for Stoke would allow them to leapfrog Aston Villa by two points. Both teams have a -5 goal difference with Stoke scoring 15 and allowing 20 while Villa have scored and allowed one more.

I’m predicting a Stoke City win and another clean sheet. Stoke has been more defensively sound recently, especially against teams in the lower half of the table, which is where Aston Villa is. They have six clean sheets this season and hope to add to that. They are also unbeaten in their past five home EPL games. However, this is countered by Aston Villa being unbeaten in their last five matches against Stoke in all competitions.

Betting Odds: Stoke win: 2.25-2.30; Draw: 3.23-3.30; Villa win: 3.38-3.70

Form: Stoke (D, W, L, D, W, D) Villa (D, W, L, D, W, D)

Prediction: Stoke City 2 – 0 Aston Villa
