Premier League Preview for Stoke City v Sunderland along with Predictions for every result in the EPL. Follow up each match with results and video highlights posted later in the week.
This match is going to be an interesting one as well as difficult to predict. Sunderland have escaped the bottom of the table, but are still in 19th place with only seven points and a 2-1-8 record. The Black Cats have also managed to score the second fewest goals in the league with eight, while allowing the most goals at 22. Even a win for Sunderland wouldn’t be enough for them to overtake Stoke City who are in 17th.
Stoke haven’t been much better than Sunderland this season, but have managed to eke out four draws to go with their two wins and five losses. They have also struggled to score goals with only ten this season. This was boosted in their week 11 3-3 draw away to Swansea City.
I’m, warily, predicting a draw. My initial prediction was for a Stoke City win, but with the international break I believe that Sunderland will have had time to prepare and this could be the match to turn around their season. Sunderland could come away from this with all three points. While they have not scored in any of their last three away EPL matches as well as losing six out of seven of those, they have recently shown signs of improvement. This has been largely due to the hiring of Gus Poyet, but the return of Wes Brown has been instrumental as well.
Betting Odds: Stoke win: 1.97-2.03; Draw: 3.35-3.40; Sunderland win: 3.96-4.27
Form: Stoke (L, L, D, L, D, D) Sunderland (L, L, L, W, L, W)
Prediction: Stoke City 0 – 0 Sunderland
