In analyzing choices for a quality team, having a good mix of high priced, high scoring players along with some lower end players that get you consistent points is such a fine balance. For this season it does seem that there are several quality picks that still aren’t too high priced. I would say that any Southampton player is a good choice as well as players from Everton. Aaron Ramsey continues to be an excellent midrange player and certainly one to pick up before his price rises even more. Tottenham is another team to look at for some decent players.
For this weekend here are some excellent choices for players by position:
Artur Boruc continues to be a solid choice in goal and one that is very popular.
Jussi Jaaskelainen is one keeper that may be overlooked by many teams. He has helped West Ham to six clean sheets this season and has a manager that prizes good defensive play.
Tim Howard is still a great buy and one that is not too expensive either. He has led Everton to five clean sheets
While Leighton Baines has cooled off in recent weeks, he is still a quality pick up. He’s a player who does well getting forward and is part of a defensive line that has kept five clean sheets, including two in a row. Along with Baines, players might want to look at his teammate Phil Jagielka
The Southampton pairing of Jose Fonte and Dejan Lovren have six clean sheets and are both players who can get forward and get in amongst the goals.
Tottenham’s back line has been solid with a league high seven clean sheets. Many of them are still moderately priced including Jan Vertoghen, Kyle Walker and Michael Dawson.
John Terry is one surprise choice for many teams. He is in the middle price range, but has put up some good numbers including one goal and one assist with three clean sheets. With that said, he has struggled in gaining fantasy points over the past few weeks.
Yaya Toure is certainly a higher priced midfielder, but there are fewer players that will be as solid in midfield as he is.
In this same area is Mesut Ozil for Arsenal who has started every Premier League match since joining Arsenal. He has racked up five assists, two goals and two clean sheets in this time.
Adam Lallana has had an excellent season and should continue to do so. While his fantasy points can be somewhat hit or miss, he has scored two goals along with two assists and seven clean sheets.
If you are looking for a bargain in midfield, Robbie Brady could be a good bench player. He has had some really good weeks and some really bad weeks, including the last two weeks in which he player seven and 15 minutes.
Everton’s Kevin Mirallas is one player that could be a decent choice if you are looking for a mid-priced midfielder. The only real problem is that he has only finished three games this season.
At the moment Sergio Aguero should be a must for most teams. With that said, he is very expensive. Aguero has scored in each of Manchester City’s last four matches to bring his tally to eight as well as giving seven assists.
Olivier Giroud is one player that isn’t as expensive, but has been providing offense for Arsenal with five goals and four assists.
As far as lower priced forwards go, Loic Remy is a player that would do well in most fantasy teams. He only has one assist this season but has scored six goals and should get quite a few more.
