Cardiff City

Cardiff has come out and started this season better than many expected. They sit just above the relegation zone in 16th place on nine points with a 2-3-4 record, but this includes having to face some of the better teams in the league. They did exceptionally well against Manchester City to get one of their two wins. While they have allowed 13 goals this season their goalkeeper, David Marshall, has made the most saves in the league with 44, 10 more than the next closest. They have struggled recently with scoring having scored one or fewer goals in five of their last six matches.

Swansea City

Swansea put in a good year last season, but have struggled with consistency to start this season. This is mostly due to their obligations in the Europa League. They have struggled the most in matches following a midweek Europa League match. This included last weekend’s 0-0 draw against West Ham United. In away matches this season they are 2-0-2 having kept two clean sheets and scoring two goals in their two wins. They allowed three goals and scored none in their two losses.

I’m predicting a very close, hard fought match with Cardiff City just edging it for a win. Since this is a derby there is every chance for some surprises and the match could go either way. Most of the bookies are giving Swansea the slight advantage, but this could be a good one to pick Cardiff considering that they are the home team.

Betting Odds: Cardiff win: 3.19-3.45; Draw: 3.30-3.41; Swansea win: 2.25-2.30

Form: Cardiff (D, L, W, L, L, D) Swansea (D, W, L, L, W, D)

Prediction: Cardiff City 2 – 1 Swansea City
