West Brom Preview

Premier League Preview for West Brom v Sunderland along with Predictions for every result in the EPL. Follow up each match with results and video highlights posted later in the week.

The week 4 Premier League Predictions have been posted, so go read up on my EPL picks for the weekend. Be sure to also check out the Premier League TV Schedule and 2013-14 Premier League Table.

Picking a winner in this match is not an easy thing. Neither team has started out this season well with West Brom sitting in 19th place on two points and Sunderland just below them at the bottom of the table on one point.

Looking at last weekend’s matches, both teams had some good chances and didn’t look nearly as poor as they did in earlier games. Sunderland probably should have gotten more out of their home match against Arsenal, but were largely robbed by poor refereeing decisions and poor defending.

In their head to head matches last season West Brom came away as winners in both games by winning 2-1 at home and 4-2 away. This season scoring goals has not been easy to come by for the Albion. They have managed to score only once, and that coming in week four’s 1-1 draw against Fulham.

Sunderland has done better as far as scoring goals, but have allowed eight to give them a -5 goal difference. Defensively West Brom has been the better of these two clubs, but have still allowed four goals.

My prediction for this match is a close, hard fought draw. Really either team could get something out of this, but considering recent form Sunderland might have a better chance of getting a win.

If West Brom is able to get an early lead, that could be enough for them to get a result. They will need to be careful on set pieces against Sunderland since this is often a strength for the Black Cats

Betting Odds: West Brom win: 2.02-2.10; Draw: 3.38-3.56; Sunderland win: 3.71-3.81

Form: West Bromwich Albion (L, D, L, D)     Sunderland (L, D, L, L)

Prediction: West Brom 1 – 1 Sunderland
