Premier League Preview for Stoke v Manchester City along with Predictions for every result in the EPL. Follow up each match with results and video highlights posted later in the week.
Stoke City have started out the season in much better form and looking more positive under Mark Hughes than previously under Tony Pulis. It remains to be seen if this will mean a change in how they finish the season. So far they have managed to keep a positive goal difference and winning record by scoring three goals and allowing two.
Manchester City is an interesting contrast to Stoke City. While they have both brought in new managers, the feelings towards these managers is rather different. Pellegrini is starting to come under fire, though I feel it is premature. Fans for Manchester City are feeling that they need to be competing at a higher level and challenging for the title, but don’t feel that the team is playing to that level.
Manchester City have managed to score 8 goals so far, but it is the three goals allowed (in their 3-2 loss to Cardiff) that is the most troubling. They should have started the season flying high with an “easy” start to the 2013-14 season against lower competition. Instead, they have started the year by losing their three starting center backs which has severely weakened their back line.
My prediction is for a close draw. With that said, Stoke certainly have a chance to get all three points. If they want to come away with a win they will need to be able to convert their chances and really test Joe Hart in goal, especially through set pieces. In doing so they also need to be sure to stay strong at the back, because Manchester City’s strength right now, is in their forwards. Manchester City has been weak at the back, especially without Vincent Kompany, and have been especially weak against set pieces.
