I would say that this is a match between two teams who have nothing to play for except some pride. Fulham have reached the 40 point mark despite having lost three in a row and they look like a team that realize they are just playing out the season. Reading have looked like a relegated team for the past two weeks and it’s going to be extremely tough for them to get up for any of these games for the rest of the season.

Reading were officially relegated in their scoreless draw to QPR last weekend. This means that they are truly only playing for pride at this point and could have an even tougher time going out and playing well. On the other hand, it could also mean that they no longer have the pressure on them to win and could feel more free to play. Odd the way that works sometimes.

Fulham have been a team that has gone in cycles throughout the season, stringing a few wins and draws together followed by a slide of mostly losses and a few draws. At the moment they are on the latter with four losses and a draw in their last five EPL matches. Fulham did not play too badly against Everton in their 1-0 loss on Saturday, although this was mostly a defensive effort from Fulham in which they had 21 shots against them and only managed six of their own, none of which was on target. Still, this was a hard fought game and they came through having only allowed the one goal.

In Saturday’s match I’m predicting a Fulham win. Reading will surely still be left with the hangover of having been relegated while Fulham will be at home and realizing they can get something out of this match and ensure their safety in the Premier League.

Fulham (W, L, D, L, L, L)   2 – 0   Reading (L, L, L, D, L, D)
