Everton’s season hit a bit of a hiccup with their loss in the FA Cup while Stoke City look like a team that could easily get sent down if they don’t get some wins again soon. At the moment Everton are still in contention for fifth place a spot in the Europa League. They have plenty to play for and are a team that need a win to be able to do so.
Stoke is one of those Premier League teams that I think has really underachieved. Many pundits out there are quick to point out that Pulis has tried to change their style of playing, but I disagree. They continue to be a team that sits back and plays for a draw. They look to counter attack using the long ball and trying to get it forward to Peter Crouch to head in. With all of the money they have spent I would have expected much more from them.
Everton has done well this Premier League season and certainly deserve to get something out of this year. They have plenty of attacking options available to go up against Stoke’s defensive unit. I fully expect Everton to overcome any defensive setup Stoke throws at them. My prediction is an Everton win with a possible consolation goal for the Potters.
Everton (D, L, L, W, W) 3 – 1 Stoke (W, L, L, L, D)
