Result: Tottenham Hotspur 0 – 1 Fulham
Location: White Hart Lane
|Tottenham – 0||Fulham – 1
|Dimitar Berbatov 52′|
A win today for Tottenham would ensure that they remain in third for the weekend as well as moving them within 2 points of second. However, the first half showed no signs of this meaning anything for the Spurs side. Gareth Bale had probably the best chance of the first half with a header in the 6th minute, but otherwise it was a fairly quiet first half.
Tottenham had about 56% of possession and managed 8 shots, but not a single one on target. Fulham only had 1 shot which also was off target. Not a very exciting half, although it did seem that Bale may have picked up an injury around the 43rd and was moving rather gingerly.
The second half started brightly. Clint Dempsey was brought on by Tottenham to provide more attacking and Gareth Bale came close to scoring. This was quickly followed by a Fulham counter attack that resulted in their first shot on target (3 total) and their first goal thanks to Dimitar Berbatov.
Tottenham’s loss (third in a row in all competitions) means that they hope that Chelsea drop points in their match today. This has been the time that Tottenham have started dropping points in the past few seasons and the loss brings these memories flooding back. Arsenal are now only 4 points behind Tottenham.
