The FA Cup is such a magical competition that it is always extremely difficult to predict. The Sixth Round has 5 Premier League clubs left with 4 of them facing off against one another. The other matches have Championship sides playing. Below you will find my predictions and brief previews for each match.

Everton v Wigan Athletic:

Everton has had a great run in the FA Cup along with their form in the Premier League throughout the season. On the other side Wigan has really struggled in the Premier League and are currently sitting in the relegation zone. This begs the question as to whether they will be truly focused on the FA Cup knowing that they will need to battle to survive this EPL season. Neither team has had a significantly difficult Cup run, although they both needed one replay in their run to this point. Wigan is coming off a pretty bad loss to Liverpool while Everton thumped Reading at home.

In all honesty, I have a hard time seeing Wigan coming through this one. It seems that Everton have really taken to this competition and I am actually hoping to see them go far, if not all the way. I think that whatever happens in this match will certainly help the winner in their EPL run. Wigan will certainly look to defend and counter. They have a speedy frontline that could

Manchester City v Barnsley:

Manchester City has finally picked themselves up and managed to get a good run of form going in the Premier League. Meanwhile, Barnsley has lost a bit of focus having won only once since their last FA Cup match against MK Dons. Facing off against Manchester City at the Etihad will surely prove too much for them. I’m predicting a rather easy, if not comfortable, win for Manchester City, 4-0.

Millwall v Blackburn Rovers:

Well, neither team is coming into this one on a good run. Both teams have lost several in a row and Blackburn’s last win actually coming in the FA Cup against Arsenal, while Millwall has lost 2 in a row. This should be a good clash between two Championship sides that are separated in the table by only 1 point and 2 places. As it stands neither team looks like they will be challenging for a place in the Championship playoffs and nor will they be dreading relegation, so this is all they have to play for.

This is a match that I would tend to go with the home team and give them an advantage, especially when that home team is Millwall playing in the Den. I think Blackburn will make it close and they could pull off a draw, but my final pick is a Millwall win. I’m predicting Millwall to come away 2-1 winners.

Manchester United v Chelsea:

Manchester United will certainly be out for revenge against a side previously managed by Jose Mourinho. Chelsea will be coming into this one with only 2 days rest following their Europa League match at Steaua Bucharest. I’m tipping Manchester United for the advantage and not only because they are at home.

Following the awful decisions by the Turkish referee in Tuesday’s Champions League match, United will be out to prove themselves and will have plenty of time to prepare for a comeback in the FA Cup. For me, United are the favorites to win the Cup and get the Double. I’m predicting a 3-1 win for United. I think they have too many attacking options and their defense has been solid over the past month.
