Premier League Preview: Tottenham v Arsenal

This Preview for the London Derby between Tottenham Hotspur v Arsenal includes my Premier League Predictions and pre-match analysis for Match Week 28 of the EPL.

Both teams are coming into this London Derby having won three straight in the EPL. Tottenham have been able to do so in quite some style thanks to Gareth Bale. Both teams have also managed to get their wins by 1 goal in each match with Arsenal keeping 2 clean sheets. However, in the most recent string of results Arsenal has been dumped out of the FA Cup and are on the brink of elimination from the Champions League. Tottenham has managed to progress in the Europa League and will play later in the week. I would give Tottenham the advantage here.

Arsenal will be missing both Sagna and Diaby at the heart of their defensive/midfield setup. Tottenham may have Tom Huddlestone return, but it looks likely that Clint Dempsey will be out along with Jermain Defoe. This means that Adebayor will likely start up front on his own. I don’t find this very promising for them, especially considering his idiotic sending off in their last meeting as well as ability to go missing for most of a match.

What this all leads to is what should be an entertaining match that should be full of some quality football. I can see Arsenal retaining most of the possession, but Tottenham being very dangerous on the counter attack. With their speed down the wings, and the potency of Gareth Bale, they will certainly get a goal or two in this way. Arsenal play a much more direct approach and could get a goal, though I wouldn’t be surprised if Spurs defense keeps them out.

I’m predicting a Tottenham Hotspur win by at least 1 goal. Bale seems more than likely to score, but Arsenal could look to cancel him out which should leave Lennon plenty of space to work with.
