Luis Suarez was completely shut down by the United defense and never threatened to come close to the goal.
The second half saw Liverpool get a much better foot hold on the game. With Daniel Sturridge brought on Suarez was able to get more room and create. Fabio Borini also came on and the three of them cause more problems for the United defense. Patrice Evra headed Robin van Persie’s free kick with the ball then glancing off of Nemanja Vidic’s head to put United up 2 – 0. This was followed up 2 minutes later by a Daniel Sturridge goal after he pounced on a bad save by David de Gea. The last 30 minutes of play favored Liverpool, but Manchester United hung on to come away 2-1 winners and extend their lead at the top to 10 points.
