Premier League Highlights: Swansea v. West Ham

Swansea City 3 West Ham United 0

Swansea City have once again proven that they belong in the English Premier League. They put on yet another wonderful attacking display and played some fantastic football.

West Ham United looked a better side than QPR last week, but as the game progressed they looked ever more deflated, particularly in defense.

West Ham was able to put in some good attempts and came close several times only to see Swansea able to scramble the ball away.

Early on West Ham put up a strong defense, but Swansea’s quick footed attack was too much with the first goal coming on 20’ from Angel Rangel. The goal itself was due more to keeper error from Jussi Jaaskalainen than anything else.

Swansea continued to pour forward and in the 29’ got their second goal from Michu (3rd in the Premier League this season).

The Swans continued with their short passing game and came close several more times before the break.

West Ham, for their part, did not give up despite being largely outplayed. The third goal did seem to be inevitable and came on 64’ from forward Danny Graham.

Swansea’s wingers Nathan Dyer and Wayne Routledge were perhaps the biggest threats going forward and creating chances for the forwards Michu and Graham. West Ham struggled to keep up throughout the match.

The match was very enjoyable to watch. Swansea looked like they could have gotten another 5 today, but West Ham was able to keep themselves going and pick up their defense during the last quarter hour.

In the end Swansea has been a fun team to watch and it will be interesting to see what they are able to do against top 10 teams and if they will be able to break into this upper half of the table this season.
