Tottenham Hotspur 2 – 1 Chelsea

I’m calling it here, Chelsea will get their first loss at the hands of Andre Villas-Boas. Tottenham having been flying high lately and the players seem to have bought into AVB’s tactics. They have shown the ability to attack with speed while also being able to protect a lead. A win for Tottenham and Chelsea’s first loss is my prediction in this one.

Fulham 2 – 0 Aston Villa

Fulham should be able to get back to winning again against Lambert’s struggling Aston Villa. Fulham has had some defensive lapses, but Aston Villa doesn’t have much of an offense to really trouble the Cottagers. I’m picking all 3 points going to the home side.

Liverpool 2 – 1 Reading

Liverpool this season has been quite the drama, or soap opera to be more precise. I’m predicting a solid win to get them some real positive press this week. The big question will be whether Suarez is learning from his time in the papers, or if he will try his antics yet again. Reading could get themselves a goal, but their real weakness has been in defense. If Liverpool are able to do something with their possession (which they will surely dominate) then they could run away easy winners. Reading will likely sit deep and try to counterattack and nick a goal or two. If all goes according to Rodgers’ plans then Liverpool should be able to move themselves closer to the middle of the table.

Manchester United 2 – 0 Stoke City

A touch match-up here for Manchester United. Stoke always seems to be a thorn in the side of every manager, but especially those in the top of the table. It’s going to be a rough match for United and they will hope to get through it unscathed (by both taking all 3 points and avoiding having any more injuries). Stoke will play their typical rough and tumble style and hope to get some decent service to Peter Crouch up front. United has really struggled with handling big men this year, so it’s very possible Stoke could get themselves enough for a draw. In the end I’m predicting a win for Manchester United.

Swansea City 1 – 1 Wigan Athletic

Two teams currently separated by 3 points will likely come away from this with one point apiece. Swansea have yet to impress like they did on opening day. Wigan, on the other hand, have played their part. They remain near the bottom, but doing enough to stay just above. Recent results have been identical for both teams: D, L, W, L, L. I know that this is one of those matches that could end up being a slug fest of a match and end up with 6 or 7 goals between them. Or, it could end up a 0-0 draw. I know I’m playing it safe here, but a draw is probably the most reasonable result.

West Bromwich Albion 1 – 3 Manchester City

Steve Clarke’s side has produced some interesting results this season. I don’t think they will be able to do enough to get a win, but I could see them frustrating Manchester City early and getting a goal at some point. In the end City will be too strong and get the goals they need. I’m predicting at least 3 for the blue side of Manchester.

West Ham United 1 – 2 Southampton

I would really like to watch this match. Southampton has been an interesting team to watch this season. It hasn’t always resulted in a win, but they have shown they can score goals. West Ham might be able to frustrate them, but I really think that Soton will come away with at least 2 goals. This match has all the makings of a goal fest or a snoozer stuck in the middle of the park, I’m going to pick somewhere in the middle. I’m predicting plenty of shots from either team, but defenses doing just enough to limit damage and keep the score low. Still I believe the Saints will be able to pick up 3 points on Saturday.

Norwich City 0 – 3 Arsenal

I really don’t know what to say about this one. Arsenal should win and should win easily. They are finally starting to score goals and are showing improvements despite their last 2 results. Norwich have been poor and I would expect Arsenal to put on another display of at least 3 goals to get all 3 points.

Sunderland 1 – 1 Newcastle United

This should be another interesting but most likely frustrating match. I’m predicting a draw and probably fairly low scoring. I’d expect the match to be mostly stuck in midfield with some counterattacking. Newcastle may be able to overcome a strong Sunderland defense, but not easily.

Queens Park Rangers 0 – 2 Everton

Everton will win. Do I need to say anything else here? I know, there’s a small chance that QPR will come back from the international break and finally get themselves a win, but I just don’t see that happening. Everton has been strong all season long (despite the draw at Wigan). I think the bigger question for this one is how many goals Everton will be able to get.
